A light and refreshing citrus blend
Yield: 5 cups
| 10 | medium oranges | ||

| 2 1/2 | cups | water | |
|  | |||
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
|  | |||
| 1/3 | cup | fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons) | |
|  | |||
| Garnish: orange rind curls | |||

1.  Remove rind from 2 oranges; cut rind into thin strips.    
2.  Squeeze juice from oranges, reserving 2 2/3 cups.  Bring 2 1/2 cups water and sugar to a boil, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.  Stir in rind; reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.  Discard rind.  Let syrup cool completely.  
3.  Stir in orange juice and lemon juice.  Pour mixture into freezer container of a 4-quart hand turned electric freezer.  Freeze according to instructions.  Pack freezer with additional ice and rock salt, and let stand 1 hour before serving.   
For garnish: Use vegetable peeler to make orange rind curls from 2 oranges. Place curls in plastic bag and refrigerate until ready to serve atop sorbet.
